Jefferson Nonprofit Community Leadership Gathering

An Afternoon with Robert Egger: Connection, Conversation & Inspiration
Thursday October 8th 3:30-5pm at Planted at Fort Worden Commons
Jefferson Community Foundation invites local nonprofit leaders to gather on the afternoon of Thursday, October 8 from 3:30-5pm at Planted at Fort Worden Commons for a special gathering with nationally recognized nonprofit leader and social entrepreneur Robert Egger.
Robert Egger is a lifelong champion of the “power of food” and the originator of the Community Kitchen movement. He founded D.C. Central Kitchen and L.A. Kitchen and was a founding board member of World Central Kitchen with Chef José Andrés. Collectively, these organizations have provided hundreds of millions of meals while helping thousands of people build pathways to employment and greater economic stability.
Robert has also been an advocate for the nonprofit sector and its essential role in communities, serving as co-convener of the first Nonprofit Congress and founding CForward. He is the author of Begging for Change, a James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year, and an Oprah Angel. Now describing himself as a dedicated “elder ally,” Robert spends much of his time encouraging and supporting leaders who are working to create bold, meaningful change.
This will be an informal and uplifting afternoon designed to make space for connection, conversation, and inspiration. We’ll share refreshments and have time to mingle, exchange ideas, and connect with others doing meaningful work across our community. We hope you’ll join us for an afternoon to step away from the day-to-day, to reconnect with the community of leaders and partners doing good work here, and to be re-energized about what’s possible when people come together in service of community.  This event is intended to feed you on multiple levels!

This event is exclusively for Executive directors, leadership staff and Board members of Jefferson County-serving nonprofit organizations and programs.
