Fundraising 101: A Practical Guide to the Elements of Fundraising

Fundraising 101: A Practical Guide to the Elements of Fundraising is an introductory, half-day fundraising fundamentals course. The seminar offers an “identity” and “belonging” framework for engaging donors that’s grounded in relationship building and trust. It outlines seven practices that high-performing nonprofits perform consistently over time to raise more money. Directors of development, executive directors, board members, and nonprofit staff members involved in fundraising, marketing, and community outreach, will benefit from this introductory course. The seminar is free and open to nonprofits serving in Jefferson County.

The seminar is taught by Jeffrey J. Cain, Ph.D. and is based upon his book The Forgotten Foundations of Fundraising: Practical Advice and Contrarian Wisdom for Nonprofit Leaders (Wiley 2019) as well as his 25 years of business, nonprofit, and private charitable foundation executive leadership and consulting experience. Jeff speaks and publishes regularly on philanthropy, civil society, nonprofit management, and fundraising. Jeff is also executive director of Jumping Mouse Children’s Center and principal at Lemolo Bay Advisors, a fundraising consulting firm dedicated to serving nonprofit organizations whose missions are unambiguously good.
