At Jefferson Community Foundation, our mission is to connect people, ideas, and resources to build a future of opportunity for all in Jefferson County. That work begins with listening. Through our new Nonprofit Snapshot, we’re inviting local nonprofit leaders to share their organizations’ priorities, opportunities, challenges, and hopes for the future—helping us develop a richer and more nuanced understanding of the people and organizations working every day to strengthen our community.

We believe one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change is to invest in local changemakers: people motivated by empathy who bring communities together, ask new questions, learn as they go, and turn ideas into action. The insights shared through the Snapshot will help JCF better support these changemakers with responsive services, relationships, and resources—from workshops and sector convenings to pro-bono expertise, meeting space, and connections to donor-directed funding.

This summer, JCF has been delighted to work with Lilliana “Lily” Calvert, a 2025 Port Townsend High School graduate and current UC Berkeley student studying business administration and data science. Lily is helping us collect and assess the information shared through the Nonprofit Snapshot, turning responses into insights that will deepen our understanding of Jefferson County’s nonprofit landscape. We’re especially proud to have a talented local graduate bring her skills, curiosity, and commitment to community back home to support this important work.

All Jefferson County-serving nonprofit partners have been invited to complete the Nonprofit Snapshot and we’re gathering the input and insights in order to create an ecosystem analysis that offers both in depth understanding per organization but also identifies patterns across sectors. We know their time and wisdom are valuable, and we’re deeply grateful for their partnership. By listening and learning together, we can strengthen the networks that allow our community to give, build, and solve.
