Cain\, Ph.D.\nOffered FREE to employees and board members of Jefferson County Nonprofit organizations\n\n  \nDate/Time: September 10\, 2026  •  1:30—4:30\nLocation: Jefferson Community Foundation\n\n  \nRSVP required\n\n  \nFundraising 101: A Practical Guide to the Elements of Fundraising is an introductory\, half-day fundraising fundamentals course. The seminar offers an “identity” and “belonging” framework for engaging donors that’s grounded in relationship building and trust. It outlines seven practices that high-performing nonprofits perform consistently over time to raise more money. Directors of development\, executive directors\, board members\, and nonprofit staff members involved in fundraising\, marketing\, and community outreach\, will benefit from this introductory course. The seminar is free and open to nonprofits serving in Jefferson County.\n\n\n \nThe seminar is taught by Jeffrey J. Cain\, Ph.D. and is based upon his book The Forgotten Foundations of Fundraising: Practical Advice and Contrarian Wisdom for Nonprofit Leaders (Wiley 2019) as well as his 25 years of business\, nonprofit\, and private charitable foundation executive leadership and consulting experience. Jeff speaks and publishes regularly on philanthropy\, civil society\, nonprofit management\, and fundraising. Jeff is also executive director of Jumping Mouse Children’s Center and principal at Lemolo Bay Advisors\, a fundraising consulting firm dedicated to serving nonprofit organizations whose missions are unambiguously good.

Drop it into any AI conversation and the AI starts already knowing you. Useful for board reports\, donor communications\, planning documents\, and every other AI task where context about your organization matters. \nGrant writing. A complete workflow demonstrated live\, from researching the funder to drafting and tightening the final sections. You’ll leave with reusable prompts your team can run on every grant application going forward. \nData privacy. A free tool that strips identifying details from spreadsheets on your own computer\, before any data ever leaves your machine. Plus a Data Sensitivity Quick Card and a fill-in AI Policy Template to set clear rules with your team. \nHonest conversation throughout about what’s working\, what isn’t\, where to start\, and how to think about funder expectations as AI use becomes more common. \n60 minutes of content with 30 minutes for Q&A.
